NASCAR

I live in heart of NASCAR country. A few miles down the road is Charlotte Motor Speedway, a hub for the sport. The majority of the race teams are based within 15 minutes of my house. But there's a problem....I'm really not in to NASCAR. I've followed from a distance and seen the sport grow in popularity and grow into a main stream sport. I've made several attempts to follow the happenings from week to week but each time my interest eventually tires. This year is going to be different. This coming weekend is the big race...the Daytona 500. Like spring training in baseball, the Daytona 500 means spring is almost here. I'm committed to following each race each week. I don't have a favorite driver but I tend to pull for Jeff Gordon. He is sponsored by Dupont which appeals to me due to my days spent in Wilmington, DE, Dupont's home town. He also drives a Chevrolet...I drive a Chevy too. I also want to experience a race live in person. I want to be a part of one of the great subcultures.....NASCAR fans. So this is the year to dive head first into NASCAR fandom and see if there is something there for me. Check back in a few months and see how its going.

Until tomorrow,
Dave
