People are in one of two camps as far as oysters are concerned. You either love them or are disgusted by the thought of them. I am talking raw oysters on the half shell. Fried, steamed and roasted don't count. To really appreciate an oyster you need to eat it raw. With a little cocktail sauce there is not much better. Until last year I was one of those who wouldn't think about eating a raw oyster. They looked gross and slimy. Last Spring in Chicago while hanging out with my younger brother I bit the bullet and order a dozen oysters on the half shell. I'm sure the beer I'd been drinking helped but I found them delicious. I've actually become pretty particular about my oysters. I prefer them from the east coast....Maine to be specific. I enjoyed a dozen this week will in San Francisco. Nice to know you can get a little bit of Maine while on the opposite side of the country. If you aren't and oyster fan give them another try. I think you'll like them.
