World Hunger

Jim Valvano, the former coach of the NC State baskeball team gave a memorable speech at the 1993 ESPY awards. He was dying of cancer and was there to announce the formation of his Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research. It was an amazing speech and one part has always stuck with me. He said:

"To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. Number three is, you should have your emotions move to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special."

Such a simple thought but so true. It made me think if I was having a horrible day what could make me laugh. There are lots of things but I thought I would share my favorite comedy bit of all time. The language is vulger and it may not appeal to all but I laugh aloud every time I hear it.

Now what could move me to tears during good time? Lots of things but I will save that for a future post.

Until tomorrow,
Dave
